Review: Tarantino's Pizza

Tarantino's Pizza is located in an interesting building on the NW corner of Main and Rouse in downtown Bozeman, Montana. They serve a great pizza and I encourage you to visit.

Depending on your preferences, you can combine your visit to the pizza place with other nearby attractions such as Soroptimist Park, the Salvation Army church, or the Zebra Cocktail Lounge.

The Overland Express restaurant located in the Gallatin Field airport serves a great stack of blueberry pancakes.

Review: Steak nite at F.O.E.

The local Fraternal Order of Eagles (in downtown Bozeman) sponsors a steak night once a month. For $11 you get a t-bone steak and a baked potato. The atmosphere is very informal. I liked it.

Review: Fresco Cafe

I dined tonight at the Fresco Cafe, an Italian eatery located on N. 7th in Bozeman. The dinner was excellent. I had lasagne bolognese, and shared a brownie (fabulous) for dessert. Dinner and dessert for two (Trish and me) cost about $30.

Review: The Gourmet Gas Station

I recently dined at the Gourmet Gas Station with my buddy, squeeze, old lady, lady friend girlfriend Trish. Their fajitas are pretty good. Not spicy like a real Texas fajita, but really good otherwise.

The Mint (in Belgrade MT) serves a great flatiron steak, and a ginormous pork chop.

Review: Over the Tapas

"Over the Tapas" is a Spanish-style tapas restaurant co-located with the Sweet Pea Bakery at 19th S. Willson in downtown Bozeman.

If you like tapas, then I recommend trying this restaurant. My dinner companion and I had wrinkled potatoes, spicy chicken, crab cakes, and a cheese/fruit plate. Total cost (excluding tip): $30.

Note: the Sweet Pea Bakery has a blog with a clever name: Flourish (flourish as in "thrive" and flourish as in flour-ish).

Review: Cosmic Pizza

Cosmic Pizza is located at 19th and Main in Bozeman (in the same building as the Loaf 'n Jug).

I had one of their pepperoni-mushroom-greenpepper pizzas yesterday. Pretty good.

Of course, MRP is the gold standard of Bozeman pizzas. But Cosmic is as good as or better than Papa Johns, for example. I'll likely order from them again.

Review: Cafe Zydeco

Cafe Zydeco is located on Main St. in Bozeman, just west of the Roundhouse. They serve a nice and spicy Red Beans & Rice (note: the large bowl is very large). Dinner for two costs about $20.

Fred's (Butte)

Fred's has a pretty good mesquite burger.

My source tells me that this restaurant was located in Bozeman prior to 2002. It was in the space now occupied by "The Garage".

Review: Panda Buffet

I recently had dinner ($10.25) at the Panda Buffet, which is located northwest of the 7th - I-90 intersection.

Of the the five Chinese restaurants in Bozeman, Panda is one them. Seriously, my meal was about on par with meals from the Bamboo Garden and the Chinese joint in the mall food court. The Panda does serve some non-Chinese food, such as roast beef and crab legs.

Review: The Lighthouse restaurant

The Lighthouse restaurant, located on Tai Lane near MSU, serves a $10 lunch buffet. Today, I had chicken tikka masala, rice, and kheer. Pretty good - I'll dine there again.

Review: Cateye Cafe

The Cateye Cafe is an "all-meals diner" in downtown Bozeman. I had pancakes there this morning - pretty good, but they were the first pancakes I'd had in many months, so who knows. The restaurant is bit more upscale/bohemian (????) than Mainstreet Overeasy or the Western Cafe.

The Cateye Cafe has a weird schedule, so be sure to check their website before visiting.

Review: The Garage restaurant

The Garage is located on the corner of Church and Main in downtown Bozeman. The restaurant is located in a former automobile service facility, hence the name.

I had an excellent hamburger (with swiss cheese and a kaiser roll bun) on Saturday. In fact, I hereby award the Best Buns in Bozeman award to The Garage.

(As a bachelor, I eat out a lot, and like to think I know about great buns.)

Review: Western Cafe

I had breakfast here last Friday - eggs, sausage, hashbrowns, and toast. The sausage patty was ginormous - the size of a small steak. I was so full I had to skip getting a sweetroll for dessert.

I liked the Western Cafe a bit better than Mainstreet Overeasy. I won't be eating at either one very frequently, though - I want to avoid a heart attack ;-)

Review: Mainstreet Overeasy restaurant

Main Street Overeasy is a popular breakfast eatery in downtown Bozeman (on the north side of Main St.). The restaurant gets very busy after 7:45am, so your best bet is to get there when it opens at 7 am. Don't be surprised to see movers & shakers -- I saw MSU president Geoff Gamble there this morning.

I had eggs & sausage -- good, but not great. I want to go back and try the pancakes, though.

Review: Boodles restaurant

Boodles is a fine dining establishment located in downtown Bozeman. I recommend their New York strip steak (~ $30). Next time I visit, I'll skip the apple dessert, though. Overall, I think it would be a good place to entertain a business client or a date (as long as your guest has good table manners ;-)
