Review: The Lighthouse restaurant

The Lighthouse restaurant, located on Tai Lane near MSU, serves a $10 lunch buffet. Today, I had chicken tikka masala, rice, and kheer. Pretty good - I'll dine there again.

Well... it's not an indian restaurant. And the interior atmosphere is... curious. It is interesting, I guess, but there is a fine line between kitschy and tacky. The recorded waves in the background were too much.

Lunch is only a buffet, dinner is menued. The food was pretty good, though maybe not quite good enough for the $10/plate price tag.

As I said, it's not indian, it is "world cuisine" that happens to include a couple indian dishes. They were tasty, to be sure, but a far cry from my lust for naan, tandoori and a mango lassi.

I will go back to try the dinners, but the buffet, while interesting, probably won't coax me back too often.

>"world cuisine"
I think the conceit is that it's the sort of restaurant a world traveler (someone who has sailed the Seven Seas and visited exotic ports) would create. I'm not sure how Lighthouses relate to exotic ports, but then I'm a landlubber.

When I was in grad school (in Atlanta) an Indian friend and I would go to an Indian buffet once a week. Ahhhhhhhh......

That place is the worst restaurant in Bozeman, I went there for a lunch meeting yesterday, recieved non-existent service and tipped accordingly, only too find today that I have a 20% extra added on to my credit card the only reason I found this blog is my attempt to find their number online. I would strongly discourage the Lighthouse, strongly.

World cuisine: Indian, Thai, the best hamburger you'll ever had (not like any regular hamburger but rather great!). The taste is very fine, not vulgar with intense flavor but rather very subtle exotic flavor that your palate really appreciates as it savors the food. Their maple glazed salmon with their sweet potatoes fries are to die for and so are their california rolls. Very fun shrimp cocktail and the cheesecake is the chef's own, great decadent desserts. I recommend it highly; it is worth the wait for a well prepared food.

Ate at The Lighthouse today and oh my, it was wonderful. for the price it cannot be beat. the chicken marsala was wonderful, as wa teh Pho soup. the Chai tea is great and the chocolate fondue bar is a wonderful finish. i'd reccomend this to anybody, unless they don;t like tasty food that isn't beef. quiet great atmosphere
fantastic lunch
they don't do a dinner menue anymore, all buffet all day long!

The Lighthouse is delicious! It is true that it is not an Indian restaurant, and therefore doesn't have a huge selection of spice and naan (which I love too- for these cravings, you must go to Taste of India in Billings), but I very much appreciate its deserts, it Masala, it's Thai dishes, all of which are hard to come by in Bozeman. I was very sad when it closed. It actually has another location just outside of Gardiner, MT, which his said to be reopening this summer! Its a little far to go for dinner, but I will certainly make a point of stopping by if I am in the area! Maybe a boiling river visit and the curry and desert after!! YUM
